Beauty Lift (Thread Lift) PDO threading

Stock Hill Dental Care is one of the few clinics to provide such innovative treatments.

We now offer non-barbed and barbed (cogs) PDO Threads! Watch our videos below, the first shows a treatment being performed using a combination of the two different types of thread, while the second shows a treatment using just the cogs.

What is the Thread Lift?

The Thread Lift is a procedure which rejuvenates, regenerates and improves the structure of the face, in a similar way to a surgical facelift, but without the need for surgery. The Thread Lift uses specialised threads which are introduced into the skin with a very fine needle to lift tissue and muscle and improve skin texture. This is a brand new treatment to the UK and we are one of the first aesthetic clinics to offer it.

How does the Thread Lift work?

The threads used in the Thread Lift are made of soluble PDO (polydioxanone) which is a material that has been used in medicine for many years, mainly in surgery. However, research has shown that PDO relaxes muscles and tendons, and also stimulates the neocollagenesis process, which encourages the production of new collagen in the skin. PDO also stimulates the synthesis of elastin and hyaluronic acid in the skin, both of which are vital for keeping the skin looking plump and youthful.

The PDO thread is inserted into the skin through a very fine needle. Depending on the area to be treated, the thread is introduced into either the skin itself, the subcutaneous fat, or the muscle. A lifted appearance can be seen immediately following the treatment, however, the results will improve in the following days and weeks as the PDO stimulates neocollagenesis, which in turn produces collagen. The overall texture of the skin is improved; it becomes thicker, tighter and firmer and fine lines and wrinkles are smoothed away.

Different thicknesses and types of thread are used for different areas of the face. Short, non-barbed threads can be used to treat fine lines on the face, as well as tightening and lifting areas such as the jaw line and neck. Thicker “cogs” or barbed threads can give a significant improvement to the mid and lower face. Sometimes we will use a combination of both non-barbed and barbed threads to give best results.

The threads are naturally absorbed by the body in six to eight months, however, the effect of the treatment can last for up to two years.

Which areas can be treated with PDO Threads?

The threads are extremely versatile and can be used all around the face and neck. They can treat vertical and horizontal wrinkles on the forehead, sagging brows, drooping cheeks, pronounced nasolabial (nose to mouth) and marionette (corner of mouth to chin) folds, sagging jawline and neck and folds and wrinkles on the chin.

What results can I expect from the Thread Lift?

The PDO threads will give the skin an immediate, natural improvement in appearance. After about 10-14 days, the process of natural body protein synthesis begins and continues over a period of two years, keeping the texture of the skin smooth and supple.

How much does it cost?

Price depends on the area(s) being treated, but starts from £300.

We offer 0% Finance for individual treatments and treatment packages.

Risks and Benefits

Bruising can happen, much less so with non-barbed thread. The degree of bruising varies not only depending on the area being treated, but also from patient to patient. However, you do need to be aware that considerable bruising could possibly occur, and plan your social calendar or work commitments around this. We can show you “after” pictures which show examples of non-bruising, mild bruising and more obvious bruising.
